The Book vs. Reality

                    The Book vs. Reality

In this book, since it is based on a location in the southern U.S. it showed how life was in the South. It included a bunch of the customs they had, the type of food they ate,and how close-knit of a community they have. In the dialogue ,between the commoners had a lot of racial slurs. And most especially, in this case because a black ma had murdered the two white men who had raped his daughter. The author tried to make the book seem as accurate as possible and was very good at making it as accurate as possible because he lived there all of his life. Like nowadays, many people use racial slur now as they did back then. Also, in the book Jake Brigance when gets interviewed by  a news reporter most of the time he subtly tried to make Jake talk about if racism in the community would effect the outcome of the case. I feel the author tried to connect their reality with the reality of our world. I absolutely love how this book is written.

Great things about this book

The great things about this book

So far, I pretty much like my book. I think it is very interesting and it really captivates your attention. I truly enjoy the way the author uses imagery and how very detailed this book is. The details in this book are so exceptionally vivid that you're able to create an image in your mind of how the scene might go. I also like how the author makes the characters have some characteristics of normal flawed human so that they don't appear to be two dimensional. I love the great length that Carl Lee goes for his daughter, this shows that when he needs to he will be tough and protect is family with all is might and power. This book goes at sort of a fast pace and keeps everything flowing an fresh. This book has a large quantity of characters so you have to keep track of all of them. I am up to the part were Jake ,Carl's lawyer, is getting recognition for the case he is taking on. And while the news reporters and journalists try to keep tabs on him, he goes and tries to plan and organize all the tactics he is going to use so Carl can get off the hook. I expect Jake to at least get Carl Lee a low sentence because this lawyer seems to know hat he is doing.

Carl's Heart Wrenching Pain

             Carl's Heart Wrenching Pain

Today, I want to blog about Carl Lee's situation with his daughter's rape and the two murders he had just committed. I wanted to find out what other people would have done if they were in Carl's position so I asked a couple of friends and family members and they all gave almost the same simple answer and said that yes they would do the same exact thing that the character in my book did. And to be honest, If I were him and my daughter was raped I would most likely do the same exact thing. And the reason Carl and I would do this is because we probably have felt that we failed to protect something that we held dearly. I could only imagine how much pain this must've caused him and how distraught he must've felt knowing that his daughter had experienced such a horrendous event in her life that would change her emotionally and physically forever. Since this event had occurred in his life he could barely eat, sleep, and think. He simply could not do anything because he knew that the people who caused him so much pain inside would still be alive and not get exactly what they deserved. If this happened to me I would the same exact way. I wouldn't rest until justice prevailed. And still if this injustice was not was corrected I would go avenge my daughter and try to stand up for her when she couldn't and get back what was taken away from me and my daughter.

The Process Begins

   The Process Begins...

So as I left off from my last post, Carl Lee makes a quick escape with his brother toward Carl's house. But, what I left out was what was everyone else in the Courthouse ???? Well, the judge he seems to be a very agitated person and the only way for him to get over that feeling is to drink...especially before a case when its jam-packed. So when he begins to hear gunshots every which direction his first response is to get his little vodka bottle and drink it under his desk . I don't blame him but maybe he should have just hid somewhere quickly and wasted his time to get the bottle out of the safe. I mean if I were him I'd try to look for someplace to get away from the danger but, luckily for him the murder didn't have any interest killing him. So yeah that's what basically the only person in the courthouse did the others were security men so they basically just pulled out their guns and tried to get everyone out of the building to a place of safety. And, when the police task force came Carl had been long gone from the scene. But, since Carl informed Brigance, his lawyer, that he might kill Billy and Pete. Brigance went to an old friend Sheriff Walls and sort of tips him off by telling him that the of mind Carl was in was not too great and that not too much would change his mind. So when Walls came to the crime scene he knew exactly would had done it.I wonder what will happen in the preliminary hearing and if he will be able to get away with t without too much sacrifice?????  Will Carl even get to pay bail ??? How big will his sentence be if convicted??
