   So recently in English class, we are reading Night by Elie Wiesel. It is a very interesting book so far. Night is about a young Jewish boy named Elie who survived the Holocaust. It starts off with Elie and his friend Moishe the Beadle, a homeless man, talking about mysticism otherwise known unto them as the teachings of Kabbalah. German soldiers come into their town for some reason to kick out all the foreign Jews. Since Moishe wasn't really native to the country he was forced to go with the soldiers. But in reality, the Germans came to exterminate that group of Jews. So, Moishe made a hasty escape and told all the townspeople what the Germans were planning to do with the Jews. But, they didn't believe his warnings or story because they seemed irrational and bizarre. Soon, the German soldiers came back and encamped in the homes of the townspeople. So of them said the soldiers were polite and completely disregarded Moishe's warnings. Then the soldiers start enforcing ridiculous rules like no jew is allowed to own jewelry. A couple days afterwards, Elie's father finds out that the Germans are planning on gathering up the Jews and putting them to work at brick factories. so now Elie insists his dad on packing up the family to flee the country, but the only problem is they don't have enough money to run away.
      So now, I want you readers out there to give your opinion on what's happening.
 Why do you think no one believes Moishe's story ? Is it because he is homeless or, what????
And.....What would you do if you were Elie's Dad?? Would you still try to flee? Why or Why not??
How do you think Elie's dad is feeling with all this pressure???

          Well, I'm starting to finish my book. It was a really amazing and great book. It is so hard to pick a side in this book because it was a really controversial case. Nonetheless it was a definite page turner. Hopefully, I can find another book as great as this one. Well, anyway the KKK try and attack Carl and his family along with Jake and his family. They try to do whatever they can to scare Jake off into not defending Carl in the case. The KKK also attack Ethel, Jake's receptionist, while they cause all this chaos they burn crosses and they try to do anything to get the case off track. There is so much drama and action which makes want to keep reading and reading. I basically flew through the chapters in this book. And I'm so excited I am moving on to another book.

So this week I actually was doing a bit of research on my book and i found out it had gotten turned into a movie and that it was actually based on one of the case John Grisham had witnessed when he was a lawyer. So yeah well anyways, a couple chapters afterwards int the book the Ku Klux Klan came to Clanton because they had heard about what had happened there. Freddie Cobb, Billy Ray Cobb's brother, met up with the Klan to discuss about the case. They decide to help him after they discover that his grandpa was a former Klan member.While they plot against Carl, Jake goes to Carl to discuss his case and tell him basically what the guidelines are. As they discuss about the case, Carl asks how much money he paid Jake because he was considering borrowing some money to give it to Gwen and his kids cause they had barely any money.

  A couple chapter later on in the book, the court officials begin to prepare for the actual case in which Carl Lee will be indicted for the crime he has done. So Rufus Buckley,a district attorney, begins to describe to the jury what might be going on during the case and he tells them about the case. So as they begin to review the case in front of the jury, officer Ozzie Walls takes the witness stand. One of the jurors was skeptical to indict Carl Lee because the men he killed were his daughter's rapists. So to try and convince the rest of the jurors, he asks Ozzie a bunch of questions like if he had kids and if one of them was a  little girl which would ultimately lead up to his final question "Suppose she got raped and you had your hands on the man who did it.What would you do?" The officer deliberately tried not to answer the question not because he didn't want to them the but it was because if he did it would effect the grand jury decision and he thought it would be best if Carl was indicted for this case. Ozzie's opinion was that Carl should be indicted because it was necessary cause he shouldn't have taken this matter into his own hands. But to be honest, in my opinion I don't think justice would be served if the men were still alive because his daughter would have to relive that pain of knowing that they are still alive and out there able to try most likely do it again and destroy another family. later on the D.A.Buckley tries to keep the juror from influencing the rest but afterwards the juror puts the D.A. back in his place. But Buckley gets pissed off obviously for being put in the corner. But the juror threatens Buckley that he would complain to the judge about this dispute and have him indicted. I honestly enjoyed all the drama that was put in this chapter, it made it more interesting to read.
